Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala is Director-General of the World Trade Organization and an economist with a career in international development and public finance. Before leading the WTO, she served twice as Nigeria’s finance minister and held senior roles at the World Bank.
Her work addresses the rules and institutions that shape cross-border trade. At the WTO, those questions include how countries with different resources can participate in the global economy and how trade policy responds to disruption, development needs and changing supply chains.
